MANDEVILLE, La. — Authorities say the 'iconic' giant cow outside of Saia's Super Meat Market in Mandeville was stolen overnight in an unusual heist and left on the lakefront.

The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office said the iconic cow, which usually sits outside the historic grocer and po-boy shop, was reported missing Thursday morning.

"Shortly after the call comes out, our friends at the Mandeville Police Department come over the radio... 'Hey, I just found a massive cow on the lakefront. Must be her.'" a post from the sheriff's office said.

The owner of Saia's told deputies that believed that some youths completed the heist, going to great lengths to ensure a smooth operation. It appeared that the cow-nappers added air to the tires of the trailer that the cow statue stands on before rolling the cow away "for a night on the town."

That's actually kind of funny and pretty harmless

Disappointed said youths didn't leave a message on message sign.. I'm mean come on, you went through great lengths to steal the cow, leave something on the board.

Could've made "Large Pimp Boy" "Large Shrimp Poo"

Can't beat their fried chicken, jalapeno buns, or cajun honey sausage

Hot sausage poboy aint half bad either for $9 if you call 30 min in advance of actually needing it because they are so busy

It would be pretty difficult to not notice this thing traveling around mandeville.

Best coffee prices in town, and one of the few places to regularly have Blanton’s stocked.

LMAO. Now that is how you pull off a good respectable prank. This kids parents deserve a pat on the back. No destructive damage, just good fun.

Back in the 70s, the Sirloin Stockade had these in every parking lot
