I've seen some expat bars overseas that were the most amazing blend of cajun, carolina, mexican, irish, brit, scot, and Ukrainian.

I'm a big fan of a bar that:
Has liberal pours
Has good food
Allows the occasional tobacco
Allows things to spill outside
A porch is a huge positive.
Not a bullshite patio, a porch. Built in benches preferred to tables.
