A very good man does not weaken the country the way he did. A very good man bailed him and the country out.

Jimmy costing me 10 hours of leave by giving us a free federal holiday when I already hit my must leave threshold.

He looked silly after the failure of Operation Eagle Claw. He had to do something.

The stage was too big for him at the time, but seemed a lot more genuine than most politicians. He lived a very good life.

quote:This is completely revisionist. He was incredibly bitter about losing to Reagan and he repeatedly and publicly undermined his successors. He also publicly supported totalitarian regimes against the interests of the United States. Carter never missed an opportunity to shite on the U.S. and in spite of his obviously failed presidency, continued to think that 'he knew better' than any of his successors. And it wasn't just that he said things publicly, he actively undermined US foreign policy by contacting foreign heads of state to argue against the publicly stated policy and interests of sitting administrations. He did this to such an extent that his behavior bordered on treason. He did this with Iraq in 1991 and he did it with North Korea during the Clinton administration.
No he wasn’t. If anything he was a graceful loser and he was far from being petty. He was a great ambassador for the United States after his term and a true southern gentleman.
Plenty of examples in this article.
Carter was a dangerously inept and vainglorious clown and the idea that he was this genteel southern statesman is bullshite.

Before you try I'm not a Democrat.
He’s only known by the populace for one thing, being president and he was really really bad at it. It’s ok to give him his humanity while recognizing that he was horrible at the one thing he is known for.
Kanye: amazing rapper, composer, and producer. Also a psychopath.
Roman Polanski: amazing director. Also… a pedo.
Charles Lindy: amazing pilot and trailblazer… but a bit of a Nazi.

Lol. Eisenhower replaced Iran's democratically elected Prime Minister with our puppet dictator, which is the direct cause of the Iranian hostage crisis 25 years later. Kennedy and Johnson then went to war in Vietnam on behalf of Ngo Dinh Diem's autocratic South Vietnamese regime. Then Nixon waged a secret war in Cambodia, which resulted in a coup and eventually the rise to power of the Khmer Rouge. After Carter, Reagan's administration befriended a guy in Iraq named Saddam and aided him in multiple invasions of Iran. Then Reagan's own Vice President went to war against our former ally not even a decade later. And most of us on here are old enough to remember disastrous foreign policy decisions made by Clinton, Bush, Obama, Trump and Biden. Every American President in yours and my lifetime has done what you claim is limited to Carter.

Don’t forget Iran-Contra and our other adventures supporting totalitarianism in Latin America

Good guy, terrible president. But in comes Biden to save Carter from being the worse in modern history.

He was a witness to how Christians should live their lives. No matter what you think/thought of his politics He walked it and talked it. He has received his heavenly reward and he's back with Rosalynn

He wasn’t a good president but he put the Nation’s interests over his own and allowed Fed Chairman Paul Volker, (the true GOAT fed chairman), to let interest rates go wild etc to fix the economy even though it cost him the election and created something stagflation which we thought was impossible. Volker allegedly told Cater what he was going to do and it my cost him the election and Carter said do what is in the best interest of the Country.
These are two often overlooked facts

quote:Naw, he's right about all that stuff. US foreign policy has been a disaster for the most part since the end of WWII. My issue with Carter is that he was one of the first presidents to break the tradition of not criticizing successors. Carter basically stepped out and took it upon himself to negotiate with foreign leaders independent of the current elected administration. His turn was over, it was time to let someone else frick everything up.
Better don your flame suit.
We have the issue with Iran today because of the US overthrowing Mossadegh in 1953 because of the British frickups with BP. Carter undermined the Shah and basically encouraged and supported Khomeni and the Islamic radicals that overthrew the Shah in '79. Iran has been a cascade of US foreign policy frickups for 75 years.
