Could be, but you'd be hard pressed to find many who believe that.

That's a pretty bold statement to make considering scientific facts are updated all the time. Hell scientist can't agree with each other on certain food being good or bad for you. Science is great but it is not the end all be all a lot of you make it out to be. Careful what you put your faith in whether it be religion or science. Both have their flaws.

You evidently haven't studied much science or religion because both say the same - they exist together and have completely separate objectives.

I do, and with it being ever changing, why would I even think about believing it 100%, just to know it'll change in the future.
Surely you can wrap your head around that concept.

And to you, I present Isaac Asimov's The Relativity of Wrong.

It'll fall on deaf ears in your case it seems, but others may enjoy it.

Science is constantly converging on the truth. Faith is believing in a 2000 year old book. Fundamental difference that people like you ignore.

You know that even the concept of gravity is viewed as a theory, unless you are retarded. We have a very strong idea that our current gravitational theory is accurate, but we have the understanding that it could stand to be changed if someone provides scientific evidence that there is an inaccuracy.

Get that faith in science bullshite out of here.

Ahhhh Sam Harris and the Christian god. Video below. Enjoy. I know you will with a comment like that brother

I have an open mind to pretty much anything and am very skeptical, but Sam Harris states at about 1:20 into the video that Christians believe that all people who believe in another religion automatically go to hell when they die. I don't know a single "Christian" that believes this.

Quote from John Paul II:

quote:

“Nor does divine Providence deny the helps that are necessary for salvation to those who, through no fault of their own, have not yet attained to the express recognition of God, yet who strive, not without divine grace, to lead an upright life. For whatever goodness and truth is found in them is considered by the Church as a preparation for the Gospel and bestowed by him who enlightens everyone that they may in the end have life”

Religion, belief/faith on no evidence, none at all.
Science, belief/faith based on the best available evidence

yah...think I will roll with reality.

Morality and the Christian god

^^^ WATCH IT

I'm not religious, and I particularly think Sam Harris' "It is always Now" video hits on something very enlightening and real about what the very nature of time is...

but the above video really changed my perspective of him. First time I've seen it, and I can't even begin to scratch the surface of the mounds of intellectual garbage he is spewing in that video as it relates to the concept of god and nature, and that what he is preaching is simply the other side of the same coin of narcicism which he attributes to Christians.

I am disappoint. I thought he was smarter than that. Alas.

I find it amusing when small-minded people assume if they haven't experienced something, it doesn't exist.

it's taking narcissism to another level of extreme. Christian don't have the answers and place their trust in God. Sam Harris is smarter than us all and has it all figured out. Who's the narcissist?

I bet you are almost too smart to hang out with.

I always find it humorous when individuals that have little knowledge in faith and scripture try to overcompensate why it is not important because they themselves thinks that science fricking rocks so hard they got no time to hear about Jesus and God.

Here is a just a little perspective: faith and science can both exist. Sure you have some dumbasses on each side that claim they are mutually exclusive, but if you brought up evolution or the big bang theory to a true Christian (because you mention the Bible) theologian, he would tell you that you are missing the point, and that you have terrible taste in television programming.

It wasn't meant to be exciting, just informative. The suggestion that science has always been wrong and therefore not worth anything is one of the most idiotic things posted on this board...and that's saying something. This boring video addresses that.
