Friend of mine grew up in a Sears house and it is still there on the corner of Jefferson Hwy and Brentwood. It had a basement and was shipped down the Mississippi River on a barge. Everything included, nails, paint, wallpaper, light fixtures everything. It’s a great, solid house.
I've heard about these for years but to my knowledge, never seen one. Always intrigued me.

I still see old Jitney Jungle 53’ vans around in pastures and such around the country.

I actually enjoy the surreal feeling of eating at Shoneys or shopping at deserted places like Sears. It’s like a peaceful time warp. Kmart was the same way.
I always make sure to stop at the Shoneys in Jennings whenever I’m driving through. Just because.

Apparently there are still a couple left in Houston but I have fond memories of the Metairie location.

Service Merchandise was originally "Wilson's". They had an awesome toy department. Scored some Star Wars stuff there in the 70's and 80's

Bob's Old Fashioned Ice Cream
Used to ask my parents for these Everytime we went to Alexandria Mall. It was inside right across from K&B (later Eckerd's).

For all you guys and gals from New Orleans East:
Shakey's Pizza at Kenilworth Mall
Jim Dandy Chicken on Crowder and Lake Forest
The Plaza: Farrells, Space Port, KB Toys
Shoe Town, got all my football/baseball cleats there
Barker's on Chef Hwy. The place to go before Kmart and Walmart came along.

The toy section of their catalog was legit.

I've encountered some of these dead US chains still surviving overseas. It's iteresting how some of them have proliferated across the globe and adapted to local markets but struggled and failed or were bought out in their home country.
Woolworth in Germany
A&W in Okinawa, Japan
Chi Chi's is still around if you're craving Tex-Mex in Belgium, Luxembourg or UAE
