I thought those things went away

Got one at Florida and Sherwood. Didn't realize i couldn't turn right on red. Apparently there was a sign saying it was a no-no.

The ticket says failure to stop at a red light, but the picture clearly shows that i stopped. Any loop holes to get around this thing? I assume this is just a non-moving violation and pay the fine and be on my way?

oh, and i know...quit breaking the law

More like don't pay the ticket because it isn't enforceable.

They send em for right on red, they go in the trash.

i had heard that, but wasn't sure of the consequences....like credit impacts or points on a license. Either way, the car i'm driving is still registered under my wife's maiden name...so she'd be the fugitive

i'll have to read the ticket, i'm not sure. They have a website to go view either the ticket online or maybe a video. I'll check tonight

I got one last year, light was red. I ran it. Guilty. Paid it.

I have heard it both ways. Pay and don't pay.

The only loophole is the apostrophe. Good luck.

Won't go on your credit in BR. Cannot go on your license or hers.

If it hits credit report in six month, you call and dispute. It disappears.

THe No Turn on Red sign to turn onto my street isn't illuminated and isn't visible (via streetlights) at night. Is that enforceable after dark?

I would think you could argue it, and the next day it would be lit up. Not sure if that is a surefire way to get out of it.

My wife got several at Goodwood & Airline for right turn on red. You're supposed to stop & wait like 3 seconds before you turn, although she just completely ran them without stopping.

Anyway, her car is registered in my name. She got the tickets 2 years ago. I just bought a truck, so I got to see everything that's on my credit report. Guess what wasn't on there?

1. Real tickets will instruct you to contact the court to resolve matter in question while fake tickets (ATS and RedFlex) may tell you not to contact the court. Fake tickets are sent via regular US Postal Mail service, but appear to be "official," which they are not. Criminal citations are sent by registered or certified mail.

2. In Louisiana, RLC and speed camera citations are NOT a criminal offense. They are treated as CIVIL matter, partly because the OWNER of the vehicle is issued the citation (doesn't matter who is driving) and if contested, you won't be awarded the opportunity to go before a judge. Instead, you will have a hearing with an Administrative Adjudication officer (city appointed).

3. CIVIL offenses are NOT reported to the Louisiana DMV or your insurance company.

4. In Baton Rouge, city officials will NOT turn over your Social Security Number to a private company (ATS and RedFlex).

5. If unpaid fine goes on your credit report, simply dispute online with Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. Ask them to investigate and validate the debt owed. ATS and RedFlex must provide proof that you entered into an agreement for goods or services or signed promissory note.

6. If threatened with a collection notice or a harassing phone call, do the math. ATS and RedFlex send out thousands upon thousands citations each and every day. This is profitable for them to do, because many people are scared into thinking they have to pay (the media plays a large part in this) and because it's the "right thing to do."

What's the bottom line? If you think for one minute that a company such as ATS or RedFlex, both of whom are located out of state, are going to take the time, energy and resources (think out of state costs, attorney fees and court cost) to go after you in a court of law for a fine of less than $500.00, pay it.

But if you're like me and are willing to take the "risk," toss it and go on with your life and don't look back!

Many people believe these tickets are official and are susceptible to their "scare" tactics and pay. Send out enough of these "tickets" and it's a great revenue generating stream for the red light camera companies and the cities that allow these companies to operate within them.

Will,
You seem very knowledgeable about the topic. I just moved back to Baton Rouge the first of this month. My wife still lives out of state and just received two tickets in the mail of me not stopping on red at the corner of Sherwood and Coursey. My truck is still registered out of state and im planning on going and getting LA tags this week.

It really pisses me off that I received two tickets, one on the 2nd and one on the 6th (and probably got 4 or 5 more coming)and didn't receive the ticket in the mail until the 21st in Georgia.

My question is how do you tell if these tickets are form one of the companies you are talking about. It says on my tickets they are from the City of Baton Rouge/Parish of East Baton Rouge Red Light Enforcement Program. But the mailing address is based out of Ohio. Seem like BS to me.

Second, is it possible that they will make me pay the fines in order to get my tags in the state of Louisiana?
