If someone wishes you well than don't be an a-hole either way. Be polite and give greetings as well. Some celebrate Christmas, so don't take it as an offense if you are not Christian. If someone wishes you Happy Holidays and you are Christian than don't get all butt hurt about it. People have gone full retard with this topic.

Yes.. And not this just topic, but pretty much every "social" topic.

Exactly.

Also I consider this whole time of year from thanksgiving to new year’s “the holidays”. So either way it’s not a big fricking deal.

I'm just trying to figure out when this became offensive to Christians.

I've always used Happy Holidays because first I really don't care to probe into your religious leanings (and frankly, I don't have just Christian friends). Second, it always seemed to encompass Christmas and New Years.

It became a red meat issue used by conservative media to fill airtime during the holidays, and your typical idiot who only consumes that form of media (i.e. average OTer) ate it up because they subsist on outrage and being offended.

Celebrating Christmas is a US tradition because this country was founded as a Christian nation. If “Merry Christmas” hurts your feelings, GTFO

Putting Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays In Perspective

My only problem with this debacle is that some of my employers in the past have explicitly said to not say ‘Merry Christmas’ - so we didn’t insult anyone

It was happy holidays or nothing - so most of the time I chose nothing - unless the person I was speaking with said Merry Christmas - then I would answer in the same way

I got written up but nothing happened
