re: Psychology Today==> Women cheat for their spouse's benefit

But let’s talk about another practical move these women made: not putting all their eggs in one basket. Many women maintained multiple affair partners at once. Not because they were greedy, but because they’d already learned from marriage that relying on just one man for everything was a risky bet. So, they kept a “roster” or “herd” of partners to ensure they always had options

Many women value keeping a family together over their happiness, so they stay with men who don't make them happy and fulfil their missing needs with other men.
This seems more like the reason men cheat than women. Women cheat because they want attention and someone to make them feel special. They’d 100% leave if they thought the new man had more to offer. Cheating men seem more likely to be content with a side piece and keeping the family intact.

Fact of the matter- men cheat far more than women
And nobody makes excuses for us.
We are held accountable

Of course it's written by a women.
"Why many alcoholics drink not to get drunk, but to stay sober."

If my wife cheats on me, i'm taking that as carte Blanche to start getting some strange. Might not be the right approach, but that's what would happen.

But what if, for some women, cheating is actually the thing keeping their marriage together?
Oh wow

Scientific fact. The amount of suburban women having affairs is staggering.

Your take is uneducated, and not the norm.
Well someone lives in a fish bowl. It’s not the norm around your social space because people aren’t wearing tee shirts proclaiming they are cheaters. It’s happening bro and you being so blind to the fact tells me yours is probably one of the ones that’d be wearing the tee shirt. You’re way to confident in what you have and that breeds complacency.

With whom are they cheating, then?
I think this notion should be challenged. Over the history of the species, approximately 40% of men have reproduced. That number for women is almost 90%. Couple that with about a 10% false paternity rate, and I think women are just better and more discreet than men are at cheating.

There you have it
Women are not accountable for cheating
I don’t think that’s what he’s saying at all.
Now the article might be a different story but if we all actually took a step back and thought about it, what he’s saying is correct.
There are times people cheat bc they want out of the relationship, sure.
There are also times people cheat so they feel fulfilled and this allows them to stay in the relationship bc all their desires are met. Not saying it’s right by any means, but there is a little bit of psychology involved.

The most ridiculous thing I've read today. But the day is still young

I'm always curious if these idiots actually convince anyone of shite like this. Do cheating women use it as evidence when they get caught?
I just assume it's the author's attempt at justifying their own desires.

Pretty much every culture in central and South America shows this to be true.

I'm sure the cuckolded husband will be thrilled.

This seems like an attempt to justify being a ho

And yes, they want to keep their families together,
I disagree with you completely. If their motivation was keeping their family together, they wouldn't risk having an affair. If they have an affair and get caught, that could potentially destroy "keeping their family together".
The reality is, the husband, the one she is cheating on provides security and comfort. The cheating wife doesn't want to give up the security and comfort the marriage she is stepping out on delivers.
You've heard a "monkey won't turn loose of one branch until it's got another in its hand"? A woman won't either.
IF, and as soon as an affair partner offers the same level of financial security and comfort her husband does, she's filing for divorce.
The reason she stays in her marriage isn't to save her family. It's to protect her "plan B" which is her marriage and family.
The author acts like the women she interviewed are so noble and are only protecting they families and staying in the marriage because of them. That's laughable. As soon as a "better option" shows up, they're gone.

No, I'm confident in the fact that married Godly, intelligent women that aren't cheating skanks.

40% of men have reproduced? Clarify that and why it’s relevant.
Fwiw- in college, one of the students in my psychology course did a senior report on the effects of divorce on child rearing. Through that report with a lot of studies, interviews, and other material backup, the report found that men cheat overwhelmingly more than women. The report went on to make the case that the cheating was so bad that gay unions where children were being raised was bad because the frequency of cheating was so high amongst males and especially in gay community. Pretty interesting.
Not saying it can’t be refuted but it was a well documented report and I’ve never seen anything to refute it.
