This happened several days ago, as well. My understanding is that counter-protesters showed up open-carrying, supposedly to intimidate the people protesting (at) the Confederate monument in front of the court house. The protestors then “called for back up”, and a ton of other protestors showed up, armed to the teeth.
Sounds pretty tense, but all that really happened was a bunch of “we’re just here to educate” and a bunch of “we ain’t trying to hear that”. Some lady grabbed the microphone and did an impromptu acapella performance of Set It Off by Boosie. (I’m not joking).
But yeah, to answer OP’s statement about being put under the jail: both sides were there, with guns. Cops didn’t do shite to anyone, besides standing around looking annoyed to be dealing with it all.

Nope, but they were crucified in the media for a week. Shortly after, the media said looting, beating people in the streets, and burning property down was justified.
There's definitely a double standard and if you can't see it, it's because you don't want to. (Not you personally, since I have no idea of your views. I'm just speaking of people, in general.)

More than three had guns and I couldn't see all of them.
I have plenty of guns but I don't go downtown and carry them around at a protest.
