LAPELS sent out an interim/emergency CPD policy which gives some leniency for PDHs this year due to COVID-19's impact on licensees' "ability to participate in face-to-face continuing professional development during a portion of the 2020 calendar year."

So how are you guys/gals working on your PDHs this year? Curious if you found good resources.

Not in LA, but our company has used pdhdirect.com for a few years now. Makes it easy, no face to face required.

Webinars bro. Free ones everywhere. And they don’t have to issue a formal certificate. Under the regs, if it is relevant to your job you can count it as PDH. Just keep a record of training and a copy of the materials in case you get audited.

RedVector. I get the full year unlimited membership and cover most of my requirements. A couple states require state specific courses that I have to find third party.

A bunch of vendors are offering webinars since most companies aren't allowing face to face meetings.

Also most of your company training can probably be counted.

Lots of zoom presentations right now with the professional organizations. Are you civil? If so the La Civil Engineering Conference is early August and is all online. You can probably get all of your pdh’s then

LAPELS site usually has a directory of all approved vendors of PDH credits online, but looks like that portion of the site may be down at the moment.

As of others have said, the online stuff is the way to go and the certificate is in-hand right away usually.

Also, the LAPELS Professionalism and Ethics quiz on their website will count as 1 hour of ethics for your renewal

certificate isnt. but here is the rule.

quote:

Acceptable Activity?subject matter which is technical
in nature or addresses business management practices, professional ethics, quality assurance, codes or other similar topics which facilitate the licensee's professional development as a professional engineer or professional land surveyor, and/or serves to safeguard life, health and property and promote the public welfare. Any course/activity offered by a board-approved sponsor/provider will qualify as an acceptable activity. It will be the responsibility of the licensee to determine if a course/activity offered by an unapproved sponsor/provider is an acceptable activity.

So at face value what he said is right.....But if you get audited and show 30 hours all from no board approved venders, get ready for a long defence of your PDHs.
