Check out his first 5 albums leading up to Purple Rain. During that time, that music was unique and sexy. Keep in mind he wrote and played his own music. He didn't sample and crap.

Sad, I always liked Prince.
The wife was telling me a couple days ago that the rumor was he had AIDS since the 90s and just recently stopped taking his meds due to religious beliefs (Jehovahs Witness) and was succumbing to the illness as a result.

Totally an icon during my 80's HS music wheelhouse. First time I heard him was through my sister's cassette deck. We wore his first album slap out.
Sidenote: Just flipped to MTV to see if there was anything being played, interviews, etc. Not shocked to see Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory reruns on. I miss my 80's MTV, too.

I like Kanye's music better than Prince's music. I don't get Prince and think that people like him more to seem "cool" than out of genuine like. He wanted to be Bowie but Bowie was better. Just my opinion, no troll. I get he was talented.
And I adamantly believe that U2, first Bruno Mars, and Michael Jackson were all better Super Bowl halftime shows than Prince.
