Basic economics.

If you have a large supply of a product the price goes down.

If you have a large supply of a currency, it’s value goes down.

If you have a limited supply of goods, and unlimited supply of a currency, it will take more of that currency to purchase said goods.

Scarcity is a thing.

You can’t make everyone rich by giving everyone more money. It doesn’t work that way.

This is ridiculous. Roger, the Republicans have had ample time to do your bidding while in majority. They failed you. Just live w it and stop whining.

This is true.

Not too long ago Republicans had the Presidency, a majority in the House and Senate, and a majority of Governors across the country. Yet, they have very little to show for that advantage.

The left should not have a monopoly on obstruction.

Basically, production went down on a lot of stuff due to the pandemic, and now that restrictions are being lifted and people have money to spend and hence a high demand. Demand is harder to meet, especially in countries that were hit super hard by COVID, so prices go up. You're seeing it with the chip shortage in electronics.

But let's not blame it on an event that hasn't happened in this country in forever and pin it on one election.

This is another doom and gloom stout post so he can blame the democrats for something else and people keep eating it up.

That was part of my point. Both sides employ a lot of obstruction when they're not the side in power. Democrats at least try to get lots of legislation through when they have the reins. Hell, in 2019 alone the Dem controlled House passed around 400 bills, most of which never came up for a vote in the Republican controlled Senate. A good many of those bills were DOA bills to begin with, like all the repeal Obamacare bills the Republican controlled House passed over the years, but many were bills aimed at addressing issues.

You know that, I know that, but apparently Spleen thinks the conservative party is the only "party of obstruction".

This is a way, way over simplification of what's going on.

I think its hilarious that you tout trying to pass garbage as a good thing or just trying to pass garbage to be voted down to yell at their lemmings 'hey at least we are trying to do things' as another good thing. both sides are different levels of garbage

i only voted in local elections for the longest time because that definitely impacts me the most. i think the clintons, bushes, and obama are all the same people so i didnt vote for any of them. but the way the left acted after trump won has me thinking they dont deserve any votes going forward at almost any level. to act like the left hasnt gone off the rails the last few years is laughable

And that's the gist of it all. To be able to lay blame. Then it's marketed to the bases how the other side isn't working for them. Then, the heavy lifting is off their shoulders. The fight is between the 350 million, not the 535. It's nuts

They aren't "forced," they can do a multitude of things, including keeping their wages the same

Please present to the class the "things" they can do, since you seem to have all the answers. Also, what's with the "forced" language? Restaurant owners will pass the cost onto the consumer because that is what they want to do to offset increased labor costs. They aren't forced with a gun to their head.. it is where they are choosing to make more room.

Here's a few options companies might have to cut costs:

- decreasing wages (obv can't be done here since that is what you're saying to remedy)

- decreasing product quality by opting for cheaper items (won't offset an increase in wages since goods are INCREASING in cost, and you also risk losing customers when your product turns to shite)

- change their operating model (most sit-down restaurants with a loyal following aren't going to change their entire model and have people ordering at a counter like they're at fricking Chipotle)

etc.

Another option, which we will absolutely see whether you think so or not, is passing the cost onto the consumer. This is being done all over the place, so I really don't understand why you think it won't happen.

Everything on the Chimes menu, for example, is higher in price than it was before Covid started. They, like many others, halted their happy hour and special nights.
