Kid died because he pointed a gun at the cops
But the only reason kid pointed a gun at the cops was because the cops entered kids home, looking for individual who wasn’t there, to arrest said individual for a drug selling operation that by all info thus far was not occurring.
So what is the end result? A dead kid and a bunch of cops who came back with nothing they went there for.
And it's worth noting the mental toll that has on a cop who has to shoot a 16-year-old kid who pointed a gun at him during a raid that shouldn't have been happening in the first place.
Where's that accountability for the people higher in the hierarchy who make that decision? And most large police offices don't have good, comprehensive mental health care for their officers. At least not at a level they should given what they encounter.

No knock raids for drug offenses are an abomination. I dont believe that happened here though.
I personally think these dudes should be able to sell weed on the street corner.

Yeah, because you're openly racist.

Those items maybe in thousands of peoples houses. Is there video of you dealing drugs out of your house or driveway that woukd warrant police involvement?

Supposedly they have body cameras and the footage.
Body cameras are a cops best friend.

As someone mentioned earlier, Alabama apparently doesn't have any laws that make police cam footage subject to an open records request.
So we likely never see that evidence.
Which is, again, part of the systemic issues that enable poor policing and accountability.

Let's not go that far.
They should be able to smoke weed, not in public, and damn sure should not be allowed to distribute.

Body cameras are a cops best friend.
Sadly there is a high probability that the public will never be able to see this footage

Opinions are like assholes. You can throw that word around all day long, it doesn't bother me.

Like I said, I'm aware. Just calling it like it is.

They've helped more cops get off bad raps than the reverse. Only bad cops should fear them.

I have no issue with body cams. They should be mandatory and either auto activate or something to make it easy for them to start recording.
It does more to protect good cops than to incriminate bad cops.

However we both know how broken that system is. State like Alabama has rules where body cam footage doesn’t have to be released, and never is. Cop who is bad at the job fricks up, but is protected by union and is either internally disciplined, or is transferred to another precinct and continue their job with just a slap on the wrist.

Well it makes sense then that the drug dealer they were looking for wasn’t there. Guess he was door dashing his drug orders that night. Bad luck for the cops and the 16 year old.

Indeed, though there is some evidence that cops may use less force with them which also helps the citizen, maybe. If the citizen is playing nice.
After watching body cam videos, theres no way I could be a cop. the abuse they take is incredible. I'd get fired.

No. It’s incompetence by the police and terrible that a 16 year old kid was gunned down in his own home.
