Louisiana's House on Tuesday passed legislation that would allow the state to tax the sales of the raw smokable form of medical marijuana.
House Bill 514, by Speaker Pro Tem Tanner Magee, would apply the state's 4.45% tax to the sales of marijuana "flowers" in the state's medical marijuana program. Sorry, but the state has plenty of tax money that doesn’t get spent on what it’s supposed to.

Hopefully, this will pave the way to recreational, but in reality, it will likely only strengthen the medical cartel. Right now, the state has a duopoly on growing. Once that duopoly has this money, they will afford to keep it that way. We'll likely never get recreational or home grow or even widespread commercial grow because LSU, Southern, and the select pharmacies with licenses will never let it happen. They want 100% of the pie, even if it means the pie stays smallish.

I’ve never seen these laws make a place better, but I’ve seen them make them worse.
Look at the NW and Colorado.

Plot twist: they already have
that law. It is governed by a marijuana stamp. The catch is, they just don't print any stamps.

The pot heads really don't like this. They are smoking no matter what. Now you gonna add a tax and put out stale weed on the shelves. Lol.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves.
"Potheads' interest mildly piqued" would be better, more accurate and, frankly, funnier.
