Possibly no more "close contact" quarantine in schools
Cade Brumley doing work

LINK

quote:

In a major policy change, public school students will be allowed to remain in classrooms even if they have close contact with someone who tests positive for the coronavirus or shows symptoms, state Superintendent of Education Cade Brumley said Wednesday.

But the state health officer isn't a fan.

quote:

State health officer Dr. Joseph Kanter immediately denounced the change.

"I think this is a bad call," Kanter said. "I think it is dangerous. I think it is going to put kids at risk."

This sums up the entire 20 months or whatever this has been of how "health officers" are dealing with COVID.

Doctors - by their nature - only care about medical impacts. This is why they overorder tests all the time, always advise taking all precautions, want to treat everything no matter the cost, etc.

But sending kids home for two weeks on the off chance they *might* have caught it is a completely stupid thing. These kids need to be in school. If they show symptoms, by all means, send them home. If a parent chooses to keep their kid home... they can always do that.

To see the state health head and the state education head disagree with each other is pretty fascinating.

Any society that doesn’t think of the children is doomed. Bad policy

I never thought I’d say it non-sarcastically.

Our private school has been doing this… they still have to wear damn masks but no quarantine if exposed because they are masked and “distanced”

Ascension Parish just confirmed it.

My 5 and 7 year old will be fully vaccinated by mid-November so we're good either way.

If masks work and kids have to wear masks in school, then how is this dangerous?

This board

“Don’t tell me what to do with the vax. That’s all I ask”

(This board also judge everyone else’s vax decision and tell them what to do)

My parish adopted this today. We’ve had entire classrooms of kids quarantined because of contact tracing. It is, and always has been, ridiculous.

Funny story. Our Peditrician thinks the chicken pox vaccine could be a reason there has been an explosion of Shingles in recent years. His thought was that parents not being re-exposed to chicken pox virus when their kids get it could make their immunity wane over time. I know I know there is also a Shingles vaccine for that.
