I'm thinking the same unfortunately. Those CRJ-700s are tight in the cabin so even if you survive the initial impact with the water you've got to find your way out of any exit in frigid water.

I'm hoping at least someone survives this but how many of us have our shoes off, taking a nap after the crew has done their final cleaning before landing and turned the lights back off?

They also fell 375 feet. That works against them in a big way.

The irony is the same thread on the poli board is less political than this thread.

That Blackhawk could have just lifted off from The DOD. I know Trump wasn't on it but it's also where Marine One Hangar is located.

Hopefully those 8 are alive, which would be insane.

The last entry on FlightAware for the plane was a speed of 139 mph and an altitude of 375 feet.

The PSA RJ was on short final and the Blackhawk took off right into the RJ

I don't know how you don't see the landing lights that close to an approaching CRJ700, but Blackhawk helicopters are full of blind spots.

Gotcha. I was just looking at the map when I realized what was right across the river. I'm not too familiar with DC.

Same here, and assuming that’s true, it’s a miracle those four survived.
