Because you saw that on TV? By that logic wouldn't it also point to Muslim extremists?

No, b/c that's what the Putnam Co.Sheriff and GBI said.
Don't be obtuse.

What kind of dog was it? I'd have to imagine a big one would deter an attack.

The Russian mob is also known to behead people.

Looks like a pit or pit mix. I read that they’re doing a full autopsy/forensic analysis on the dog, would be some sweet justice if the dog defending her ends up being what gives them the evidence to catch the perp.

Damn. Takes balls to attack a woman with a pit by her side using only a knife.
I wonder if he surprised attacked her and slit her throat first or something, then had it out with the dog, then went back to her to mutilate her.
Have to think if he went after the dog first she'd scream bloody murder and that wouldn't be good for his plans.

I lived at 10th and Piedmont for a year after college. Found the place because it was close to work. It took me a week to notice all of the pride flags. A couple at the apartment complex found out they were HIV+ and decided to end it all by sawing their arms off. The story I recall was they got 3 arms off, but couldn’t figure out the 4th.

The Putnam sheriff and gbi have no fricking clue. I have forgotten more about the Oconee case than you've ever known. Pick something else to argue about.

Holy Moly. Those dudes still around?

Alright OT. Let’s figure it out. This place has solved murders before.

If so, the killer would have to have their DNA entered into the CODIS system as a felon convicted of certain violent crimes. There could be a possibility that the killer does not have a criminal record.
This isn't 100% true like it used to be, especially when the FBI is investigating. IF there was truly a DNA sample on the dog, the FBI and GBI have ways of narrowing down a suspect even if they've never been arrested for a felony and aren't in CODIS.
Sometimes it'll narrow it down just enough to get a rough idea of the perp's appearance, and sometimes it'll lead right to the perp. Yes, they use databases like 23andMe, but they also have other ways not privy to the public.
Even just a distant member of the perp's family in CODIS or ancestry website will lead to a hit, but then there will be numerous options. All they have to do is narrow it down by known locations and alibis to get a pretty good idea from there. To put it simply, they have their ways even if a perp isn't in the system in any way.

Yep.
They have crazy "crowd sourcing" methods of narrowing it down. Golden state killer for instance.
Let's just hope they get DNA and someone related to him, even distantly, has submitted DNA to those websites.
Sidenote: That's why I won't do those websites. I don't want to be the guy that puts my future grandchildren in prison

Maybe regardless everyone in the pictures should be found and questioned I would think

Why would they try to commit suicide that way? Were they just on a shitload of meth

Reports are coming in now that the body was mutilated with anti-gay slogans carved in the victim, as well with the woman's lungs removed. The dog was decapitated as well.

My BIL's band is playing later this afternoon at the dogwood fest, a couple hundred yards from the crime scene in the park. I'll see if I can pick something up the cops might have missed as I walk through.
