I looked at the pictures you posted and you can add me to that list.

Thanks for posting.

I’d imagine some poor caveperson got kilt by a meteorite in front of other cavepersons and it was a BIG deal in the caveperson world.

Og offend swamp god.

That is cool. Do you have its papers?

Did you get it registered?

It now lives in an old aluminum screw top 35 mm film can in my chest of drawers.

What a glorious ending for it.

But still a cool story.

There's probably some extraterrestrial space villain looking for that. Expect a visit from him soon!

You just really don’t want to admit that you overcooked a short rib, do you?

My aunt found one when she was a kid and brought it to USL to get authenticated. She too had a hard time getting it back, my grandmother had to go up to the school. Years later they gave me a piece. It's in a pill bottle somewhere around here.

Hopefully so for the OP, it's a neat story and something cool to have. But what are you basing that on? The shape, sharp edges, flat surfaces, etc have me at least questioning. How would those flat surfaces and edges form in space?

This hit in 1959 in Mississippi. A few years earlier a lady in Alabama becomes the first recorded person hit by a meteorite. Not sure I am getting at but caught my attention.

I definitely believe the OP. Nature makes perfect cubes and every other shape. Look at the salt cubes formed out of the Dead Sea. Nature is one helluva an artist.

It's not that I don't believe the OP, I just question how that would have formed. Salt has a crystalline structure that grows that can give it a cubic shape, but nickel/iron?

You may be right, especially about the edges and stuff but I haven't looked at it closely. Found this guide. Should be helpful.

Eta: from the link.

If it's angular, with sharp edges or points and no smooth sides, then it's probably not a meteorite.

But it doesn't rule out this particular case.
