Pharmacist stupidity

It’s almost impossible to fill a prescription for narcotic pain medicine… seems every Pharmacist is on a power trip… is there a beef between Pharmacists and doctors I don’t know about??

Thanks for the context.
Is this an Rx for a 3 days supply after dental surgery?
Is the prescriber known to overprescribed opioids?
Did the prescriber specify a do not fill before date?
Are you a week early and trying to get it filled “because I’m going out of town”?
Also, don’t confuse thoroughness and due diligence for stupidity.

Jim gaffigans bit about how long it takes to fill prescriptions comes to mind “what are they doing trying to shoot the pills into the bottle from ten feet away?”

Have you asked your local pharmacist exactly what the issue is? By local, I mean not cvs or Walgreens. Prob want to wait 2 more hours though.

Yeah, they’re on a real power trip…
There’s a ton of I’s that have to be dotted and T’s that have to be crossed, or the DEA will shut them down. And it’s not their fault if your doctor didn’t write the rx correctly.

I was at my pain clinic yesterday for a nerve block shot in my neck. While waiting to get taken to the procedure room, I got to her a doc or NP talking to someone on the phone. He was explaining why he could write another Rx because the last one was written on the 17th and it was enough for two weeks.

Yep. My cousin has to go to like 6 doctors to get enough medicine to keep his fibromyalgia under control

The DEA has this idea that by stopping the dispersal of opioids to legitimate pain sufferers, it will stop the abuse of opioids. They've been tightening the screws on this for several years now and it has produced wonderful results -- more pain suffering and a booming black market.
