SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Parents want answers after their children were misdiagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) at an elementary school in Louisiana.

A kindergarten teacher at Mansfield Elementary School used a Vanderbilt Assessment Scale to screen the students. It indicated that all 12 of her students have ADHD.

While this screening form is not unusual, the teacher wrote “ADHD Confirmed” at the bottom of the document without any intervention from health care professionals.

“The diagnosis of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is complex,” said LSU Health Shreveport’s Program Director of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Dr. Pamela McPherson. “And it should not be made solely based on a rating scale. “

I'm pretty sure teachers are not supposed to diagnose kids with any form of ailment. A teacher can talk to parents and make suggestions to have them tested, but they can not give them tests.

Teachers need to stick to teaching subjects like Science, Mathematics, English, etc...

Because we all know some of them have a hard time doing that

. Uh, it really isn’t. It’s a survey filled out by parents, a pediatrician, and teachers. I’ve done a bunch of them as a teacher and went through the process with my son.

12 kids? Bitch couldn’t handle 12 kids without assessing for ADHD?
Another “hero” educator. What a complete embarrassment for the profession.

So damn stupid. It happened to my older son. My ex-wife swore he had ADD and found a quack school counselor to write something up and she took it to the doc and got him on meds without me knowing. It took a year and me paying out the arse for a full evaluation to confirm what I already knew. It was a scam. There are true ADHD cases out there, for sure, but I'd venture to say 80% of the so called diagnoses are behavioral, not medical issues.

This has to be prima facia evidence of an incompetent teacher. She lost control and needed a reason

Teachers can't diagnose anything. It amounts to an opinion. ADHD screeners are a joke.

She wanted a class on ADHD meds so her days are easier...

Genius...

Yeah that's just a screen testing, not a diagnosis, an actual psychologist has to diagnose a kid. My twins have ADHD, they both had to go through some major testing before being diagnosed.

It's the new scoliosis. Teachers in the 80s used to chomp at the bit to diagnose that. Now they want to say everyone has ADHD even if they are just little kids with short attention spans.

The education system is responsible for drugging more kids than the cartel.
