New daughter, wife is talking about getting her ears pierced at 5-6 years old. Seems really young to me. Growing up, I feel like my sisters had theirs done at 10 years old.

What is the current standard these days?

I think some people get their kids ears pierced when they are babies.

Who cares. Be yourself and don’t worry about what others do.

you can change her gender, but piercing her ears is a serious step that should wait until she's at least 18

Now days you have to wait long enough for the daughter to decide if she’s a girl or not

Think that is a mother/daughter decision.

Not sure the downside of getting the pierced early.

Money dances are trashy.

It’s not a big deal, definitely not a hill worth dying on.

My take on it is if the child wants to get her ears pierced without any influencing from her parents one way or the other, I would let her. However, almost none of the parents that I know would not try to convince her one way or the other.
