OT Baller topic of the week: Cigars
Cigars are not often discussed here, so as I’m smoking this Rocky Patel Vintage 2003 Cameroon, I thought I’d get some other opinions on fantastic smokes. I’ve been on a CAO kick lately. What are some of your go to sticks?

There's usually a Friday Night Cigar thread during the weeks there aren't a winter storm.

Big fan of Brick House Connecticut right now.

Oliva Serie G and Cohiba Nicaragua are a couple others I've enjoyed recently.

Absolutely. It’s all subjective. Some people get too wrapped up in Dominican/Venezuelan/Cuban tobacco when the truth is, most quality factories are pumping out excellent cigars that taste pretty much the same.

Many of the well known factories outside of Cuba were started when families fled the communists after Castro seized their farms.

Been a long time since I smoked anything from JC Newman. They’re pretty mild profile cigars, correct?

re: OT Baller topic of the week: Cigars
I'm not big on cigars, but my dad smokes them and it's one of those activities that's kind of "our thing". He's retired now and lives on the river so when I'm over at his house we will pour a bourbon and go sit on the dock with a stogie and shoot the breeze.

Anyways, one of his go to brands is Punch. Like I said, I don't know a whole lot about cigars, but whenever he hands them out, I enjoy the Punch brand. Not sure about individual names but the last one was "de Short" or "Short de Punch". Can't recall without seeing the wrapper. I do remember it was pretty short and fat.

J. C. Newman has diversified their offerings some in the last 15 or so years as many American smokers are now looking for the full-bodied, Nicaraguan flavor profile. Go to their website and check their brands.

Diamond Crown, Cuesta-Rey (their flagship brand,) and La Unica are typically on the milder end of the strength scale. Brick House is one of their best-selling, brands, too.

I haven't had one in a long while, either.

Punch de Short, interesting. I had not heard of these, but they are new from Habanos, S.A. , only two years in production, likely for the Swiss market.

That’s what cigars are all about to me. An opportunity to slow things down and just spend some time with the people you care about while enjoying some unique flavor profiles.

Punch used to make some very highly rated sticks.

I quit smoking for a while and only in the last six months or so have I really started getting back into it.

There’s so much quality on the market now it can be overwhelming
