There’s a gigantic market for Information Security as well as IPSec for telecom. Making big bucks.

The program isn’t very good (I wasn’t a CS major, but took a related major with many CS classes and I’m familiar with the offerings). If he isn’t MIT good but is UTexas with a scholarship good, it’s a no brainer.

BR has an ok IT job market for its size. I work in the industry and it was pretty bad 15-20 years ago. It's much better now.

You could also take a look at LSU's ISDS program.

I just graduated from BRCC and can barely get an interview. The jobs are there, they just aren't hiring. Not me anyway.

Friend of mine finished in CS & worked for NASA straight out of LSU and now works for Disney. Great field.

Entry level? I can at least probably get you an interview. We don't really hire entry level on my team but we do in other areas of the department.

If you are just messing with me than

It’s not the greatest CS department in the world but it is good enough to prepare your kid for a good job in the industry.

Other folks are correct in stating BR is ok as an IT community but there’s certainly more opportunity elsewhere.

LSU does have a few things going for it if your kid decides on graduate studies in CS.

I'm just looking for entry level. Apparently I don't have enough experience to even get an entry level job. Never understood how that worked.

I'm currently in Computer Engineering(it's a mix between EE and Computer Science) at LSU. Some of my friends started in Computer Science, but changed to Computer Engineering. They say the professors aren't very good teachers and are only at LSU for the funding. But I'm of the belief that you get what you put in. In my personal experience, I've noticed that the CS kids are way weirder than the EE and ECE kids.

Also the IBM office doesn't seem too special. A lot of people say it's a halfway house for people over seas to get jobs in the US. I've interviewed twice there(didn't get the first and declined the second) and both times the office was completely empty.
