Once again Jxn, MS says to NOLA, "hold my beer."

After many years of good service from Waste Management, the Jxn mayor entered into a contract with another trash disposal company, Ridarhds Disposal (out of NOLA BTW). Well, the city council did not approve the contract, but the mayor kicked WM out and brought in Richards anyway. Now, six months later, Richards hasn't been paid ($4 mil) and is stopping collection on Saturday.

So Jxn, the murder capitol of the country, has no water, the worst roads in America, the worst school system you'll find and no trash pickup (along with many other undesirable attributes).

I seriously don’t understand what Richard’s was doing though. The city council literally sent them a formal letter saying do not pick up the trash, you will not be paid and they did it anyway.

This also caused the mayor to veto the councils veto, which is not a real thing and now it’s at the MS supreme court

If Richard’s signed a contract with the mayor they will probably win in court.

Richards sucks a$$ in NOLA. Yet another reason I am glad we got out. We paid for 2x/week trash pickup, we got picked up when they felt like it.

Screw all those guys.

The mayor has no idea how to run the city and handle even the most basic duties

I'm sensing a trend.

I was born and raised in Jackson. It’s going to have to collapse for an improvement. I mean, we need to allow Jackson to burn itself down.

There is no safe space in the Southeastern US. Parts of Florida and Alabama MAYBE? I wish it didn't snow in Montana and Wyoming. Where can I go where it doesn't snow and it is still a decent place to live?

I actually watch the Jackson evening news for the sheer entertainment value! The politicians there always put on a show.

This seems like the Luanda, Angola that I came to love years ago. It’s almost like like a trend.

Trash collection is and always be a municipal graft. It’s the mafia on a local level. They should all be there in jail.

No I think Nola still has the murder capital crown and the worst roads.

Richards won't win against the city council. Some speculate there was "quid pro quo" between the company and someone high up in city government, so a lawsuit there may get messy.

Interesting. Wondering if the mayor had to sign an insurance bond when taking over office.

That makes no sense. Why didn’t the city council veto the mayor’s veto of the original veto?

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Waste Management is pretty terrible.

Maybe they are better than Richard's but that isn't saying much.

I love New Orleans and this is how I feel about the city. At this point just let it burn, it’s maybe the only hope to turn it around.
