Apparently a lightning strike overnight started a tank farm fire in Matanzas Supertanker base in Cuba. 80 injured, 17 firefighter missing and they are now requesting international assistance.

In those kind of fires you just put your efforts on keeping from catching anything else on fire around it and hope it burns itself out. In that strategy on this incident I would be afraid the tank containment would fail before the contents are gone.

Cuba has had a good idea forced upon them in regards to keeping the old shitboxes running. Maintain, fix, and keep driving. We need some of that here.

From lightning??? Or did the lightning cause an explosion which blew the top off?

They should just ask their communist father for help. They know all about containing big industrial explosions.
