What about the new 747-8? IMO, it's best 747 ever built to date.

I haven't flown one yet. IMO the Airbus planes feel like cheap compact cars compared to Boeing. I'm sure the same applies to the 747-8.

Yeah, it's a shame how airlines are going for quantity over quality.

It's no accident the A380 has had as many problems as its had.

Once a month I fly a 777 trans-Atlantic and then catch an A330 flight. There is a noticeable difference.

When I was a kid it seemed like every one of my overseas flights was on a 777. Now I can't remember the last time it wasn't an A330 or an A340.

As a human person who lives in Malaysia and flys MAS often (flew with them last Wednesday, Kuala Lumpur to Langkawi) I can say they are a legit operator - a great airline. And a 777....safest plane out there.

Its just like winning the lottery - but in reverse.

Its all the talk here offshore and the consensus is better them than us. As morbid as that may sound

This is very very odd. Airliners just don't crash after reaching cursing altitude. Something catastrophic must have happened.

As far as airplane crashes, 90 people a day die in auto accidents in the US. Death happens.

I've always what's made the A380 so problematic. On a side it was cool seeing several at LAX last week

I wonder if there were thunderstorms enroute.

Side note-

Asian airlines/pilots < any western airline/pilots.

There is a stark difference in the amount of training and a completely different culture in the cockpit for Asian airlines when compared to any major carrier in the US. The captain is always right and there is zero crew resource management.
They are basically baby-sitting the automation and are nearly completely reliant on it. Very little hand flying or basic piloting stuff. The do not operate off the script well. I've had friends quit JAL because of it.

Flown them before too and definitely a legit airline, hell they are part of the One World alliance now. Now, Air Asia, you wonder how they afford maintenance with their low fares.

Air Asia has a newer more fuel efficient fleet. Last 3 air asia flight Ive taken have been brand new A320s. Tony Fernandes is a smart guy

I've flown EVA and Cathay Pacific. I like EVA the better of the two.

EVA

My favorite airline, used to live in Thailand, would fly EVA a couple times a year back here. Other than the 24 hour trip, including layover, it was pretty damn enjoyable. Always 747's with them

I flew on a 777 with EVA.
