We had over 3' of snow from this air mass and unassociated moisture, we're getting hammered by avalanches downtown.

Woke up 18 this morning in NW Calcasieu. Dripped the sink furthest away from water supply (pencil width pour) and everything seems good. Already up to 23 and supposed to be above freezing around lunch and stay there.

It's a balmy 2 degrees here in Memphis, but it's sunny, so there's that.

7 degrees, -6 wind chill here.

Over. It.

Waiting to hear what kind of snow amounts we’re getting Thursday/Friday so I can plan for Telehealth if needed.

Insulated everything but my pool auto fill line busted again.

I have the same thing.

You need to put an electric heat cable on the pipe and then wrap it in the foam pipe insulator. Get the 3ft. Version Home depot

All you have to do is plug it in when you know a freeze is coming. No way it will ever freeze with that set up. Drains aren’t reliable.

Do you have a heat pump?

We live in the same area

Yes with electric heat strips and it sucks. I changed out my stove and water heater to propane last month. I am leaning toward changing out the heat strips to propane.

are those pipes exposed with no wrap or protection?

I just got them thawed out. It has a maze of PVC lines as there are multiple filters to pass through. It did not seem like the pvc froze, which I wrapped last year but could tell the foam degraded. What was not wrapped were the brass elbows connecting each pvc pipe. I put the hair dryer to the elbows and got a trickle at the outside piquet, which soon turn into a flow.

I am assuming the pvc pipe has much more resistance to freezing than brass

Made it down to 6° last night, so not as low as the forecast. Sun is shining bright now and 21°. The most birds I have ever seen at my house have been active for the past few hours. They're hitting the feeders hard and hanging out on the top of the shop building. The metal roof must be warming up. I mean.....probably 100+ birds flying back and forth from it.

And now a mixed flock of starlings, red winged blackbirds, cowbirds, etc. have shown up by the hundreds. I'm in a damn Hitchcock movie!
