What would you even do with the sandbags?

Depends on your risk level. If you think you'll get 3 feet of water, nothing. If you think you might get 3 inches, sandbags at the doors might be the difference between a small mess and a major one

re: Office Barry thread - Significant Flooding Potential
It's been really weird being so far removed from south louisiana with a hurricane baring down, just so happening to be on a roadtrip out to the mountains this week. I've got some friends who have been checking on my house pull shite could fly away in a high wind inside and get some important papers up high.

Otherwise, just hoping we don't come back to a house that flooded again. Will be clutch to be able to grab supplies on the way home at least.

ETA:

It's half a storm.

The rotation is huge though.

It's starting to build a little on the east side. The loss of daytime heating has killed the storms on land along that boundary. That side doesn't seem to be getting as much stable air coming at it.

What were some of the rainfall totals around the BR area from 2016?

Pretty big 12 hour move. They might be on to something, it's moving at a screaming...

3 mph.

Worst birthday ever. Mostly because I consumed all of my drugs the night before. Puked all over the place

I'll admit to being a bit nervous. Neighbors are saying the same thing. If that water decides to come in it is coming in

Do you really think that model is even plausible?

I gotta say this may be the oddest storm I’ve been around the last 20
years.. it’s the Cosa Nostra of pesky storms. Silent with a potential of destruction

re: Office Barry thread - Significant Flooding Potential
Are we feeling confident that mainly the folks in the NE quadrant of roughly within 50 miles, and well insure, are going to get it the worst? I feel like the way it’s setting up that the immediate landfall area, and anything west of landfall, will be much be all right, except along the the immediate coast outside of any levee protection. Everything will be mild until landfall when the storm takes the “comma” shape like the early season low end storms typically so.

IMO, the window of terrible will be about a 50 mile stretch between BR and NOLA of within 75 miles of I-10.

I may be wrong by this time tomorrow, but outside of unprotected levee areas, the worst will be isolated.

I may be wishcasting, but if I’m west of landfall I’m sleeping pretty tonight.

I know the back of our neighborhood floods, everyone in Houma knows it floods, I live a couple blocks from West Park though. Its just frustrating.

If the stuff pushing the storm west was as strong as the UKMet thinks, we'd of seen it already.
