I'm trying to understand why second-degree battery and simple robbery don't land this "kid" in the adult prison.
If this "kid" wants to do adult crimes, he can do the time in adult prison. Maybe that would stop him from committing more crimes in the future.

Juvenile Justice Intervention Center? That means he’s back on the streets of Nola up to no good.

Why is an off-duty officer not carrying?

If he didn't attack a cop he probably gets a summons or NOTHING at all.

Sharks eat, and that off duty cop, evidently, ain't no shark.

1) A 16 year old assaulted the officer,
2) took money from his wallet
3) and fled.
4)
5)
6)
7) He was booked into the Juvenile Justice Intervention Center on charges of second-degree battery and simple robbery."
What happened in the middle?
And how did it go from “assault” to booked with “second degree battery”?
2) took money from his wallet

I bet that cop will start carrying in the future

It's just utterly ridiculous at this point

And do what? Shoot the 16 year old and end up in jail the rest of your life? Who do you think are judges in New Orleans? Who is the DA? Who would be sitting on your jury?

They need to flood the FQ with plainclothes cops and start busting people right and left. For crimes large and small. That might put the criminals off balance.

And if he was? If he shoots him, he goes to jail for murder and becomes a pariah.

This is what it will take and more than once, to clear the predators out of the FQ.

Who says the off duty officer was not carrying? If someone has a gun pointed at you are you really going to reach for your gun? He may have had the cop lie face down which gave him the seconds he needs to get away….temporarily.
