You definitely don't back down. Did you notice how more people got involved once the police cars began retreating? If they aren't going to stand their ground they shouldn't respond at all

Makes a good opening for some classic style mobsters to make a come back. Not sure they would, but it would be good. Sure they will shake down a lot of businesses for 10% or so, but they handle business. Modern gangs would not stand a chance and regular citizens would be safe again.

There's a lot of outward support for the cops where I live in South Dekalb County, GA, and it's definitely a black area.
There is a memorial to victims of gun violence on Wesley Chapel Road, and right in the middle of the pictures of little black kids there is an end-of-watch memorial to a Dekalb Police sergeant who was shot.
People turn on blue porch lights.
