Thanks, Mitch.
My wife and I go to New Orleans for a long weekend every July but decided against it this year because of the statues coming down and the crime.
Thanks again, Mitch.
I'm not saying that these attacks in the quarter are right but they sure as hell are not anything new. You should consider getting your news from other sources and not from the OT and poli board.

I think those signs were aimed at convicted felons getting caught with guns if I remember correctly

Now that you mention it, that does sound familiar.

I'll post pics of tales next weekend for chicken.

Too bad this victim wasn't Mitch or someone in his family so then you would hear about changes coming

Sadly this is how the majority of the OT depicts tales of the cocktail. That's okay though we don't want the hand grenade drinkers who consider Bubba Gump good food in the city anyway. We'll be fine losing out on the $7 in tax revenue we would have gotten from these people.

I can picture the font and colors in my head but can't remember exactly what they said, there might still be one on Broad by the courthouse

Tourism is the thing that keeps Nola from turning into Detroit

This is such an incorrect view and is such an overt denial of the problem New Orleans is going to have as a city so reliant on tourism if this trend continues.
But if it makes you feel better, keep thinking it.

I don't know where you get decline in tourism. Have you seen the hotels poping up throughout the city? Look at the CVB numbers and you'll see no decline over the past years. Summer has always been considered off season for tourism due to hurricane threat and the heat.
Statues went down, this board of middle class, southern white conservative men get butt hurt, Nola becomes Beirut over night.

Nola is closer to Kingston, Jamaica or Tijuana on a crime level. And I'm definitely at least upper middle class dammit

What trend? Tourism has been increasing steadily for years

Reading comprehension. Get some.

Three instances of tourists attacked in the last 3-4 weeks. On what is described as the "slow season."
That's the trend I'm referring to.

People are still visiting in droves so the current crime trend hasn't been much of any deterrent.
They reached like 10 million visitors. But that's not even close to major cities around the country.
This might be concerning.

Visitors to New Orleans came more frequently from Louisiana, outside of the New Orleans Metro Area (15.6 percent)
That's a big chunk to lose to these backwoods rednecks that the classy city folk turn their nose at.

I can't imagine the business owners in the Quarter are not seeing a decline but guess not. Maybe when it starts affecting the bank accounts of business owners then someone will attempt to get it under control.
Or not.
How many years have they tolerated the Bayou Classic?
