Why in the hell would anyone want to be a cop in the Chocolate City?

Most surprising thing in this video is that 20 pieces mixed are only $31.99

Did that male civilian punch a cop? I’m actually really impressed that the other 6 cops standing right there didn’t beat the living frick out of him.

Kinda disappointed too. That would have been an automatic beat down a few years ago

I know some guys that were cops in the city in the 80s and early 90s. They never hesitated to rough up some drunk revelers. Hell, I remember watching episodes of "COPS" mardi gras edition and this was fairly common. but now an officer is reassigned and will likely face charges and a civil suit.

I am very critical of police when it comes to force and breaking rules/laws. But I support this officer in this one moment. He got an unruly citizen away from the fight to try to keep the peace during Mardi Gras.

So this goes back to what i said about why is the car stuff allowed in a city like Austin?

This is part of why. The officer was reassigned because he threw a woman that was fighting out of the Popeyes.

People will talk crap about well that’s not ok. So go work Mardi Gras and deal with nothing but drunk obnoxious people that you have to control the actions of and see how long your patience stays perfect.

You can only ask someone nicely so many times before you have to be forceful

frick around and find out.

The reassignment is just theatre. We get a considerable amount of discretion, compared to the woke scrutiny of the past few years, on use of forces during Mardi Gras.
