NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Fire Department rescued a man on Tuesday after he became trapped in some machinery at a construction site in New Orleans East.

NOFD said around 9:30 a.m. the fire department received a 911 call reporting a worker on a piece of machinery was trapped 20 feet in the air.

Firefighters found the man hanging from the end of a conveyor belt machine.

The Praiswater & Son construction company is working at the site of 11000 Almonaster Road in New Orleans East, according to NOFD.

The company uses large machinery to grind and filter crushed rocks.

A worker had fallen while working on the equipment and one leg became entangled in the conveyor belt, according to the fire department's report.

Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to cut the man from the machine.

The man suffered a 2-inch cut to a lower leg and was treated and transported to an area hospital by New Orleans Emergency Medical Service, according to the fire department.

There were no other injuries reported.
