You do realize that science is intended to be reproducible when you publish. So you give everything other labs need to redo the work. That includes using specific and widely shared strains as your starting point.

The reason why for the large genetic divergence is from the base strain being collected from the wild decade(s?) ago. And that strain is used as the model for bat coronavirus.
