Heard this from someone inside the bar too. Apparently blindly spending 1 million+ on a build out of a "club" in downtown BR might not be that profitable.

Replacing Kip with any of the current flock of candidates is going to be pretty painful I'm afraid. With the timing of the police shootings I would also expect the campaign to be dominated by North BR stories which won't be productive for East Baton Rouge Parish as a whole (and in the process be just as bad for North BR).
I may end up landing at Delgado, I believe his brand of egotistical self-interested arrogance will at least drive continued investment in downtown/surrounding neighborhoods and pull some disposable BR income inward (which is the direction I think BR needs to go). He might sleezily battle additional bars downtown but he shouldn't have much to lose for other types of businesses.
I'd prefer that over an emotionally driven North BR public investment strategy that's doomed to fail or a "let the free market take care of everything" type approach that landed BR as one giant non-infrastructure having suburb to begin with.

Any chance Kip can try to get the charter changed to allow for a fourth term, a la what the Morials tried to do without success in NOLA?

Kip is running for congress vs Cedric Richmond. Probably a good move for him, if he can take him down.

LaFleur (D): former NFL player and longtime Athletic Director for Southern University. He was fired in 2011 due to being charged with solicitation of a prostitute. He was later acquitted of any wrongdoing and won his wrongful termination suit against the University. I could be wrong, but I don't believe any of the sanctions or scandals occurred under his watch, but they did win a Black College Football Championship. While lacking political experience, he definitely has the right temperament and attitude for the job.

pretty sure they're cut off from the big distributors in town
I don't think his other place, Huey's is doing too hot either, so maybe he'll be too broke to run for mayor soon

The last time I was in Hueys the bar tenders didn't know how to make a drink worth a frick.

It's a nice atmosphere, but the bartenders have no idea what they're doing. The service isn't terrible, but it's not good either. It's not like there's bands to draw people in or great prices. It's a mid-tier bar that doesn't excel at anything, so it has no niche.

I actually enjoyed it the first time, but then again that was after a wedding so i was already pretty plastered by the time we got to the bar.
I didn't notice how bad the bartenders were until we went back for spanish town.
Id rather hang at Happies or B&T

I usually hang out at Roux House or Draft House if I'm downtown, but sometimes I'll swing by Happy's or B&T's. My main haunts are the Cove, Radio Bar, The Varsity (when bands are playing), and Bogies for law school functions.

chose to live in Spanish Town when I moved here (mostly safe and walking distance to work) and I see his signs all over. He must have broad support because ST is pretty darn blue from I gather. I'll probably throw my vote his way when it comes down to it.
He owns a bunch of property around there. Basically revitalised the area in his own rt fixing up run down dwellings.
