Don't know if I have seen this happen before with a car tracking device:
Link to news story
quote:

DENVER — A man was tracking his stolen vehicle when he allegedly shot and killed the driver — a 12-year-old boy — during an exchange of gunfire Sunday

quote:

The vehicle owner told authorities he was tracking the vehicle using an app, and found it in the area of West 12th Avenue and North Decatur Street.

When the owner approached the car, he was "involved in an exchange of gunfire" with those inside the vehicle, according to Denver police.

A juvenile male drove the car to the 2900 block of West 10th Avenue, where officers found him suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead.

quote:

The vehicle owner was contacted at the scene by officers. As of publication, he has not been arrested.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out as far as being charged Will we hear from parents soon?

Any of ya'll have these devices on your car and would you hunt'em down?

I have insurance and I will need it because the cops sure as hell aren't going to track down your car even if you have the exact location.

No way am I chasing down a car, but if it is in the act I will act accordingly.

Why not? They stole possibly the 2nd highest item you own next to your house. Frick them.

Probably saved several hundred thousand dollars and a half dozen property/violent crimes.

I have zero fricks to give for the dead 12 year old. Society is better off without him. Sorry if that hurts anyone’s feelings.

The deceased child's parents should spend life in prison.

FIL had car taken in Metairie. JPSO on with Onstar stated address out loud in the East. Figured NOPD would take forever so we drove by and saw no one there. Called NOPD and told them send a car because we’re taking it back and might get killed. They got their quickly. Only damage was mirror with Onstar buttons torn off.

But...but... The child was only 12. He still had many years, and hundreds of victims that he never got the chance to get to.

If the kid (or an accomplice) fired at him, that's pretty cut and dry to me. Nice shot.

What's shocking about your statement is that it isn't hyperbole. Let's break it down:
-Future court costs
-Future incarceration costs
-Would this person sire many offspring that would be on public assistance?
-Would this person end up killing a productive member of society which would technically be lost capital.

Probably missing a few items.

Yeah seems like it. Don’t care what age is firing the gun at me, if I’m armed I’m firing back and defending myself.

How would you even know if they’re firing from inside the car? I hope this hero has no regrets.

You are assuming this kid even knows who his dad is. We might hear from a single mom.
