I'm asking you as I believe you are in tune with the goings-on uptown. I drive n St' Charles Ave. daily and it seems like there are a lot of homes for sale on the golden stretch from Calhoun to Napolean. What gives in Hurstville?

I can only imagine how some of y’all would describe the city a hundred years ago, with gambling and prostitution everywhere, and real mafia running the docks. If you harken back to the good old days, when was that halcyon era?

Jokes on you: all of this still exists.

This might sound crappy to say, but I think the NY terror attack might end up being a long-term blessing in disguise (RIP to all, I found the memorial at St. Louis heartbreaking)

But I was there during Mardi Gras for awhile - and all over the place in neighborhoods I don't normally go to. It just seemed...different and better than it has in a long time. I never felt unsafe and didn't see anything that was menacing or inappropriate.

I predict that threads like these are good markers for the bottom and we will look back with some clarity and see that.

Now, someone did mention insurance. Any idea what that's like in the Quarter these days? I'm thinking of getting a small pied a terre there.

I think that’s the plan, tbh. Then, buildings and real estate become cheap, and LaToya’s ppl from out west can scoop them up for a steal.

You think she’s that smart? Cmon

Where is that population moving to? Out of state, across the lake, just out of the city limits?

I read an article that said the state population saw a slight uptick of 10,000 residents over the last couple years despite most parishes losing population

So there will be work for the demographic that have always done it. And if they do a shoddy enough job, the next owner four years in the future will need to have that same work repaired and on and on.

Is there even a million people in Louisiana that "truly love" New Orleans? I've live here all of my life and very few people I know "love" N.O. Mayby one friend I know.

Amazingly there have been only 6 murders in the city this year (other than the terrorist attack).

ETA Article with that number is a month old so it may be more than that but points stands that the murder rate is down big time

There’s a shortage of reasonable places for rent. It will correct and stabilize. Still plenty of people that want to live in New Orleans. Still a great place and that won’t change.

Policing matters. Hopefully this trend continues through the summer.

What’s the population ranking for the New Orleans MSA? 58th? It doesn’t move up much even if the north shore is included in the MSA.

How was that wind in WF last few days? 50? 60? 70? MPH.
