Live in a small town. Neighborhood is about 50/50 Black/White. Nice country neighborhood.

What's the exact policy for waving at people as you pass them in your car-car or car-you in your yard.

I grew up waving and acknowledging your neighbors. Not overtly friendly but respectfully.

Most of these people now just stare at you. You kind of look like a goofball.

The little kids you pass- they just stare at you like you're the idiot. I have quit waving at them. Little buttholes.

Is this common courtesy no longer a thing in society? Kind of sad.

My wife continues to wave. I'm on the fence but overall, feel to hell with these people.

Do what you want and you feel what’s right. You never know who’s watching and you might set a good example for someone. frick the negative.

Try flipping them off next time and see if that gets a better reaction.

I wave to everyone in my neighborhood. I like smiling and being friendly.

Neighborhoods were central to American greatness, people lived there for decades, built businesses, returned after graduation etc.

That doesn't exist anymore. We're all strangers and nomadic. So you're free to not wave.

I don't do it in Birmingham, but I do it any and every time I go hunting in small town south Alabama, and everyone else waves back.

Not really a wave, but a sign of acknowledgment. I'm not fricking happy to see you, but I respect that you're a person I live next to. Have a good day.

Seems like many neighborhoods have changed as culture changes. People in my neighborhood as a kid were super friendly.

Now they are just a’holes.

Don't let the assholes affect the way you want to live. You want to be a waver, do it. I'll keep giving you blank stares.

I wave. Sometimes if it’s on a Main Street walkers see cars all the time and it’s tough to expect them to wave at everyone. Side streets if they don’t wave back they’re assholes.

Generally I believe this.

The black kids just look like they hate you. Like you're rolling through the hood and they on the block reppin'. Weird as hell since all these kids are middle class.

White kids are kind of oblivious.

Black parents are pretty friendly. White parents come off more like buttholes for most part.

The ones towards the back of the neighborhood is where the real assholes live.

I always wave. If they don’t feel like waving back, that’s their business.

My dad and I used to play the “waving game” when driving down to the camp on False river. We’d honk at anyone on the river road in their yard and see if they’d wave back. It was almost always 100% and I still do it randomly sometimes in different places.
