Currently I use a four year old Netbook and a HP touchpad running Android for work. The tablet is just to hold my thousands of pdfs that I need access to in the field.

My netbook, for when I need to print something or edit my program data. As my office program and POS is Windows based. (based on Access I believe)

My Netbook finally died, and now I just have the tablet.

Ok, TLDR BS not needed backstory over..

I need a good portable computer. Touchscreen or stylus would be nice as I do a lot of credit cards and right now I have them signing on my S3 with their finger.

I figure I get a good 2 n 1 or similar I can be more streamlined.

(Apple products need not apply, nor Android, must run full windows)
So my questions...

Why is the Surface Pro so much more than comparable 2 in ones? I mean $899 for 128GB, $1,799 for 560GB I mean come on. Screw Apple for starting this ridiculous markup on flash memory. I can buy a damn pen drive with 64gb for like $15. So that is just silly to me.

But I looked at the Surface, any thoughts?

I really like the Lenovo Yoga, it had a good form and decent specs.

I'm not looking for a gaming rig. I have a desktop at home and the office. I need something top carry with me at all times. Hopefully something that is well built.

Really looking for advice from people who have similar units.

I like the 2 n 1 style as having a tablet is nice, but sometimes I need a keyboard. Also must have a USB slot and a headphone slot.

I just don't know enough about laptops to get the right one. Would love to be around $500 but can go up to the $800 range or a lil more if need be.

I was playing with the Yoga today, didn't see the helix.

I don't want a huge arse tablet. so some of the convertibles were too big for me.
Also don't want an oversized phone either.

was it the ideapad or the thinkpad version? The helix is a tablet that fits into a laptop dock, might be a great option for you.

Make sure you get their latest generation, they should all have 4th gen intel processors. switchover was recently

Not sure if you'd be interested in a used machine but St. Joe's in BR is getting all new computers and selling the old 2n1's for $250 a piece. I just heard about it and all I know about the machines is that they are Fujitsu.

ETA:

Also, they have a certified Fujitsu repair shop that is operated by the students and they'll offer a warranty for $175.

that's right up my alley as long as it can run windows. I need to put a simple point of sale and data tracking program on it.

I'm not at all familar with Fujisu but I am very cheap.

I drove to the westbank at 3am and camped out till 9am for my touchpad for $99.
