A friend of mine came home from work to find the son (with mental issues) of the nextdoor neighbor stabbing his wife to death on the back deck. The attacker ran back home and John called 911. The neighbor’s son was odd, wore camo often and never appeared to be a threat before that day. He was on meds and we will never know what triggered him to do what he did.

So……anything COULD happen in your subdivision.

I always love the audacity of these kinds of snobby comments. Like OP is abnormal and out of line for wanting his neighborhood to not have a crazy person disturbing the peace all of the time.

I think the problem is with the definition of "disturbing the peace"

If he is truly disturbing the peace the cops would do something about it. Obviously this is within their judgement. Maybe its shitty cops? If so, what can you really do?

I think someone playing music in their garage is unacceptable and disturbing the peace. Most people would laugh at me, but it really gets under my skin. The issue here is that most people understand the reason OP is upset. I'd be upset too. But relying on these systems that have proven time and time again to be corrupt (HOAs, Police departments, cities) is setting yourself up for failure.

You want to be free of the burden other people place on your life? Move somewhere inhospitable that many people don't want to go, on a very large piece of land. That's really the only option. And even then you might have a neighbor who likes to fire his weapon a little too much for your liking.

Throwing the first punch doesn't make you the aggressor. You can defend yourself when under assault and you fear for imminent danger, and that includes punching a cuck in the face verbally assaulting you to "bait" you into punching them.

Lol. Moron. You mean his selfish family that thinks everyone else should just suck it up. You are part of the problem.

Welcome to today's world of mental health intervention - ignore the warning signs UNTIL someone is harmed. It is a chickenshat way to operate as one's personal right supercedes the whole....compliments of your local, elected civil libertarians who take real bad direction from so called mental health "professionals". The man needs help - help him.

No record and paranoid schizophrenia, age 50 years.....highly, highly irregular given the paranoid aspect is darn near impossible to remit.

Best advice - maintain your distance.

Doesn't sound like much verbal assaulting would be needed if the guy is walking down the street telling everyone they're cunts with no provocation.

Awhile ago he crossed the street cussing out one of my neighbors in their yard so they called cops. Cops came a short while later & hauled him away. This is moments before they nabbed him.

Good for them and him...if folks are unable to competently navigate society then they should be expelled and treated. When one's illness intrudes upon the welfare of others - time to act, compassionately but deliberately

Hopefully he will get the help he needs before something bad happens. One of my brothers friends was schizophrenic and went off his meds, then he murdered their other friend by stabbing him dozens of times. He's now serving either life in prison or 40+ years, I forget, but it's been about 20 years now.

Amen. I honestly feel bad for the guy. Mad at his family for dumping him there in that house alone off his meds. They had to know it'd end badly. That said I am expecting him back in the yard tomorrow doing the same shite. Hope not. He needs help.

I only read two pages of this thread; I’m hoping that in the subsequent 3 pages someone suggested to take this to the pool board.

Call the police and say he threatened to commit suicide. If hes so unstable he will react poorly and end up getting into an inpatient setting where they will get him back on his meds.

This is the best answer.

In Louisiana you could call and request an order of protective custody but I don’t think you can do that as easily in Texas.

He needs to be on a long acting antipsychotic like haldol depo.

We can but inpatient public beds are hard to secure. Most are occupied by those incompetent to stand trial for competency restoration - primarily misdemeanors. We ought to do better and the reason not to is pretty invalid - We don't warehouse fellow citizens as in the past. The real screaming serious criminally insane would get out of prison before a State Hospital

We can now compel administration of psychoactive medications on an outpatient basis, if memory serves correct. I know it can be done inpatient.

Your description of a drunk psycho walking around in the street screaming obscenities doesn’t jibe with my definition of a “very nice neighborhood”.
