On Delta—
the CDC now admits prior infection / natural immunity is more effective than vaccination alone
CDC: natural immunity more potent than vaccination

On Omicron—
Pfizer’s CEO, just take him at his word:
quote:

Bourla talked about how omicron is more mild, but very infectious, posing a challenge for the vaccine. But the quote in the post leaves out important context about what he was discussing. He was referring to how well two doses of the vaccine protected specifically against infection by the omicron variant. “We know that the two doses of the vaccine offer very limited protection, if any,” he said. “The three doses, with the booster, they offer reasonable protection against hospitalization and deaths. Against deaths, I think very good, and less protection against infection.”

Yet we still have the Biden admin and social media companies claiming we’re antivaxxers and need to be thrown in camps.

Everybody shouldve known this already. Them ever saying otherwise was stupid. Even when they claimed vaccine+natural immunity was the best, that sounded awful.

The issue has always been that for some people natural infection without some immunity from a vaccine could be extremely harmful. Close to half of Americans are obese and that is a major comorbidity that can cause issues if you’re building immunity through natural infection.

You could not over emphasize the word some strong enough. Keep repeating that to yourself.

That’s wonderful justification for vaccine mandates and terminations of employment for unvaccinated persons in every single company with over 100 employees

And you’re making the leap that I’m for mandates because I simply pointed out why some would consider using a vaccine versus risking natural infection to build immunity.

Congrats on that defensive leap.

I didn’t say you were for mandates. I said you provided the justification for it, which collapses on itself because vaccines are not being mandated just on obese people

How do they know two doses and a booster offers reasonable protection against hospitalization and death against omnicron? Seems like hospitalizations and especially death is way down for omnicron compared to prior variations, period.

WAKE UP

I've been awake since 5:00 this morning. No need to yell. Damn.

quote:

Protection against Delta was highest, however, among people who were both vaccinated and had survived a previous COVID infection

I've had covid and I've had the vaccine (and now booster). Delta made its way through our office like a brush fire back in August. I was one of the 4 out of 17 who didn't get it. I'm still standing after Omicron recently came through our office with the same veracity and knocked out unvaxxed, vaxxed and previously-infected alike. The only other person who has had covid and the vaccine made it through both mass casualty events with me. Who knows?

But both is actually the best

If you’re going to argue getting it is great immunity, I won’t argue on that all.

But it seems pretty silly to me to willingly want to get it without the vaccine first. Why not lessen the symptoms when you get it AND get the benefit of antibodies? Seems like best of both worlds

For a lot of people. The best isn't necessarily the same for everyone.

But you’re still much more likely to die or be hospitalized if you’re unvaccinated. So there’s that.
