I dont trust NASA to be able to do shite these days. Any government money (which is all they technically have) that they get is too much.
Let them come up with outlines and then pass the baton to actually do it to SpaceX

They are actually impacting a moon/satellite of a larger asteroid. The science behind it is amazing.
It would be impossible to measure the change of course on the larger asteroid because there isn’t any reference points and ability to measure change in speed of the larger rock itself. However, by impacting the smaller asteroid, they will be able to make those precise measurements by using the larger asteroid as a reference since the two are gravitationally bound.

You would think F’ing with viruses was enough, but I guess other Government agencies were jealous of the kill count. Uh, jealousy never ends….

I just saw a huge flash in the northern sky just over peak of Caesar’s Head SC. We have very little light pollution here and it was several miles away. Maybe they’re too late.

Unrelated, but did they ever manage to get SLS off the ground?

Here's a video of me in the 80's when I was a practicing aerospace engineer

God placed those asteroids in those positions. If we bump one, how do we know that we aren't creating a chain reaction that won't manifest itself into a problem now, but that leads to a disastrous earth impact 700 years from now?

What if it changes course for the worse?
Like when a football hits the uprights, you never know which way it’s gonna bounce.

They should just send a group of oil drillers to put a nuke mid way into it and split it in half.
it's the size of Texas but If you drill 800 feet it'll split it perfectly

These people know something is coming.
Hope whoever is doing the course calculations is not a diversity hire.

Should have named if fast asteroid redirection test. Or FART.
Speaking of which. I haven’t seen what the outcome for their “Uranus” project name was.

Be better if they directed it towards earf

Is supposed to be an asteroid passing near our satellites in 2028. Web search says within 30k miles.

90% of the sky is not being watched. I think June-October is prime asteroid season. A big one hitting is inevitable as we pass through the Khyber Belt regularly.

Honestly, this project is one of the best uses of NASA.

I really wish old people would stop trying to stifle science and technology.

Cause if God is omniscient, he's already seen the movie.

Politics is stifling science and technology. Not any age group.
