It Kinda Exploded
My first attempt at a rocket motor. More videos to come in the future with improvements. Thanks for watching!
Also, how was the video quality? Any suggestions welcome.
Edit: I don't like to beg for likes or views, but if anyone cares to subscribe that would mean a lot! I'll be posting videos on each improvement I make, each test, eventual flights, and other science related topics. Thanks ya'll

And now I'm on some government list for having watched that video. Thanks.

Cool video. What's your goal with this thing? Taking inspiration from that movie with Jake Gyllenhaal, October Sky?

lol, awesome. Tips, use a vice instead of 2 bricks. Have a cone nozzle made by a machine shop.

I love how the test stand was comprised of only two bricks laid on top of OP's pipe bomb.

I'm no engineer, but isn't the smoke supposed to only come out of one end?

Don't stand so close next time.

OP's pipe bomb.
He should go ahead and unlock the door so the ATF doesn't break the lock while serving the search warrant.

My First Attemt At A Rocket Motor

I have always loved space, and I'm going into my sophomore year of aerospace engineering at auburn. I've never dabbled in amateur rocketry though up until now, except as a kid launching estes rocket motors in fields haha. Also, I LOVE October Sky. Easily top five in my favorite movies.
Eventually I want to have a design that is reliable, I want to know exactly how much thrust my motor can produce, be able to predict performance of a rocket I launch, and get launch data (altitude, apex, flight time, etc).
It's honestly just a hobby. Once I get a design I like that is safe, I will fly at Samson launch site in lower Alabama.

I'm not going to say it because I don't want to get banned, but the handle of the guy that commented on the youtube video is hilarious.

What's with the Rolling Stones song playing at the end and beginning?
Shoulda played Rocketman by Neil Diamond.
Also I reported you for copyright infringements.

Ideally, I would machine my nozzles, even maybe the entire thing. This is all being done on a college aged budget though, so my nozzles aren't the best dimensions (I'm using funnels as a model), and they're made out of concrete. There will be numerous upgrades to my next design though, as I learned quite a bit from this attempt.
