Hi everyone. Our vet just called and our little Beignet has been diagnosed with mast cell carcinoma.
Our vet says his very aggressive. I’m so upset. I love this little guy so much.

Well, what's your next move?
Eta
Just saw it can't really be fought, didn't know much about it.

Where is the tumor on your dog? Our dog had the same. Less aggressive form really superficial in her belly skin. Surgery and chemo. Then she had another in her mouth about a year later. That was about a year ago now and she’s doing well.

The top of his back left leg.
We will get the vet info on removal to see the grade and make our decision from there. It seems to be a very aggressive cancer. We will NOT let him suffer and we will not put him through a bunch of chemo and radiation.

went through this a year or so ago, the chemo kicks their arse, and after all the suffering through that the cancer came back, in our case the suffering was prolonged and needless

Put our 16YO FBD to sleep 2 weeks ago. Miss her every time I come thru the door.
Good luck. Do what’s best for the dog.

Been there, done that with a 6 year old dog.
I really loved that dog that. It was a very aggressive form.
Perhaps your dog's is not as aggressive and you still can have some quality time left.

It is possible that amputation could help eliminate the cancer.
Just keep this as a potential option.
And, amputation of a dog's leg is not as traumatic as you might think.

See if piroxicam is available. It's mainly a painkiller but in a small number of cases it causes remission.

That’s how old he is. In the past couple of months he’s stopped jumping down from the chair to go after the mailman, he’s losing weight and now he’s starting to favor his leg.
The vet found it at his check up in December. She said it didn’t seem to hurt him and she couple manipulate his leg with no problems.
We took him to vet Friday because it liked it was a cyst that had opened up. The vet did a biopsy and it came back cancerous.
In the past 3 months he’s lost a couple of pounds, he doesn’t jump down from the chair anymore to chase the mailman and now he’s favoring his leg. In addition to having some bladder issues intermittently.

I will say that our dog tolerated the chemo very well overall. She was definitely less energetic but kept her appetite and crapped diarrhea in the house only one time. They did put her on steroids as well but it made her swell up and she couldn’t stop peeing so we stopped the steroids early.

Sucks to hear. Found out back in January that my 9 year old lab has congestive heart failure. Started treating her with meds and it worked for a while but she’s back not doing again. The vet said this is our only option because if she was a human she would be on a heart transplant list. I know when I call the vet next time he’s going to probably recommend it’s time to put her down. She’s the best dog I’ve ever owned and it’s going to be hard to do it.
