Likely tons of pressure from the family on this. He shouldn't put up a fight on it. Given the situation it is a reasonable request.

You're right, it's actually her grandfather who told her that if she gets married, her spouse has to sign.

Her family insist that he sign a prenup. That's what's really happening.

If he has money make her sign one as well.
This won't last anyway, why even try.

likely to inherit tens of millions

I had my wife sign a pre-nup.
Posted on 7/12/20 at 8:50 pm to Jake88
Was she apprehensive about signing it?

Since he also has family money, this is the correct answer.

Does it have a "No Trump" clause?

What trucking company ? Is she an only child and if not, did the other siblings’ spouses have to sign pre-nups ? Regardless, I’d sign the PN and eat that Y every night

More people need to sign prenups/separate property agreements. Everybody thinks “oh, we’re in love and we don’t have anything, what does it matter?”
Fast forward ten years and somebody has a substance abuse problem. Somebody is morbidly obese. Some body is banging a coworker. Somebody is abusive. There’s 2+ kids. There’s a mortgage. There’s car notes.
shite happens. Plan for it.

Sign it and live your life. What’s hers and her families is not yours when you’re no longer part of the family

No, not at all. It protects us against liability.
Posted on 7/12/20 at 8:55 pm to Tunasntigers92
I'd sign it. I'd do the same if I was in her shoes.

He's under the impression that a signature is setting the marriage up for failure.

Sounds like she has enough frick you money that if he doesn't sign she might just tell him to hit the road, Jack.
