This was not an attempted suicide. He hired this dude to shoot up his car to make it look like someone was trying to kill him just like someone killed his family (even though his gun was used in the crime...). A bullet ricocheted and accidentally hit him so he freaked out. When no one believes his stupid story about two guys in a pick-up truck, he came up with his fake opioid addiction and a suicide plot. Does this guy look like someone who is in treatment for opioids after a 20 year addiction? He would still be in the throes of withdrawal.
I think the story that came out about the Gloria Satterfield settlement is even bigger news than this. She died in his house, he "helped" her sons get a lawyer to sue the insurance settlement, and then he and his cronies stole the money. This is just the tip of the iceberg.

it really is twisted as all get out. I just saw that the longtime maid that fell down their stairs and died; had sons that didn't get the settlement money?

so why is the hitman charged with trying to kill him when he was just hired to shoot up his car? it was said the hitman in court said, this is crap.
big daddy Alex doesn't look like the type to take a bullet knowingly. I can see the ricochet making him all nervous.
and I had just replied about the housekeeper's sons not getting the settlement money fresh news. big daddy took it...

the mom and son were shot at the family hunting compound. I always thought the dog kennels were at their main estate for some reason.

The two guns is so interesting to me. Still not sure why. Did one person do it to make it look like two gunmen or were there actually two gunmen? Did both guns belong to the family or only one?

It appears that Maggie Murdaugh a full six weeks before she was murdered had visited a divorce lawyer in Charleston SC.
She was also looking at their family finances.
One question would be when did her husband find out she was visiting that lawyer?

It would be humiliating to be seen by your friends as being poor if you were married to Alex Murdaugh. But Maggie bounced a check at a Charity Auction.
She was also worried her younger son would follow his Father's bad habits. SO.....she was trying to get him interested in caring for the dogs in their kennels. Which was where both were found shot by Alex.
The friend says Alex had no interest in the kennels and seldom went to them. Which was where he found their bodies.

First you create a company called "Forge", then you and your cohorts move the money around until most of it ends up in Forge instead of with the deceased housekeeper's sons. Make sure your best friend and college roommate gets a cut as part of the legal team negotiating the money settlement.
