AstraZeneca’s ‘mistake’ in COVID-19 vaccine trials could halt approval

quote:

AstraZeneca’s coronavirus vaccine is coming under intense scrutiny after its UK scientists made a major “mistake” during trials — one that could even halt it from getting approved, according to reports.

The UK drugmaker and its partner, Oxford University, admitted — after reporting its vaccine tested up to 90 percent effective — that the promising results came after a batch of volunteers were accidentally given half doses. The efficacy of the vaccine was significantly lower at 62 percent for those who received the correctly administered two full doses.

Lead researcher Mene Pangalos insisted it was “serendipity,” but the error, which was not reported in the initial findings, has brought the vaccine under intense scrutiny from scientists and industry experts.

I’m glad the vaccines aren’t working. We need to lockdown and wear our mask. We can stop the spread in 2 weeks if you people would just listen to our leaders.

Several drug companies have tested the vaccine at this point. Just because one fricked up doesn't mean the others did.

I would recommend reading up on the national court for vaccine injuries and who pays for damages awarded.

And the review of the data is what has revealed these errors.

The FDA isn't going to just trust without having data available.

Everyone must have realized Trump is about to win the election so they’re rolling back the good news about the vaccines.

Maybe I'm dumb, but if the vaccine was 90% effective but later was revealed ppl only got half doses, wouldn't the effectiveness be raised?

Wouldn't getting half doses and still being effective be a positive?

I know, common sense has no merit in 2020....but still. This just sounds like the media trying to say vaccines won't work and we won't be getting them any time soon now....

1/2 dose = 90% effective

Full dose = 62% effective

I'm no scientist, but I recommend going with 1/2 dose.

Is that possible? Sure. Is it likely? No. That would suggest global collusion across several companies involving a whole lot of people. But of course, that is why these things go through a review process.

People should probably be glad that these issues are being caught in the review process while applying for emergency certification. That's the whole point of that process.

Astrazeneca is the UK one. Soy boys were harping on how they're so noble because they're doing it as a non profit. Pfizer and Moderna dunking all over them. USA wins again, you tea sipping snaggletooths

The problem is if they go with the half dose it doesn’t give them enough volume to add all the nanotechnology into our bodies which was the reason for the Covid release in the first place.
