Apart from the obvious iPhone that does much in one handheld device, a couple of things that would have blown the minds of pioneers and folks of even the 2000s

1) we can predict the fricking weather!

2) you can have an alarm system or even an entire smart home layout that you can control from the phone virtually anywhere. How many times would one wonder if they’d et the alarm and can just check it while on vacation. Incredible.

Almost literally everything we do is something most people take for granted and I think it's the cause of a lot of our problems. People don't realize how good they have it comparatively or what goes into what makes their day run.

ETA: I'll pick on specific one though. Oil. I bet if you did a poll most people would think the only thing oil is used for is making their car move.

Yeah, I’m serious. Tell people living during the depression out in the fricking farmlands that one day we could predict the weather for up to two weeks and they would shite their pants. Of course I’m not talking about folks from the 2000s with that one.

Phone. Just hard to grasp the concept that you can talk through a device that could be 100’s or thousands of miles away from the person you are talking to, and your voice will come out of said persons device

The answer is clearly FaceTime

In the 50s they talked about a future where you could talk to a loved one in the phone and see their face at the same time. And they have large booths at expos where you would have a rotary phone and like small screen on an enormous panel.

Now we not only have that technology, it’s super convenient AND people treat it like a fricking chore!

Al Gore's internet invention seems pretty popular.

I'm on a reality medical/ER show kick and I am consistently blown away with what they can literally do on the side of a road now in an emergency situation. I'm talking straight-up surgery.

An actual doctor could probably post quite a long list of modern medical solutions that weren't even considered as being possible back in 2000 that are now commonplace today.

Potable tap water has to be up there.

It was not long ago that the concept of turning a handle and instantly getting an essentially unlimited supply of clean, drinkable water would've been considered a small miracle.

GD right

When I was in college, the female form disappeared for months on end during winter.

Now winter is peak form.

What a time to be alive.
