I swear y’all are no better than the hard left. Stuck in a bubble unable to see nuance because you’re consumed by your own narrative.

In what world do you see Williams being tough on crime?
Posted on 1/22/22 at 1:41 pm to NIH
Idk about tough on crime overall, but a highly publicized spate of carjackings yeah

Who will hold him accountable?

One of his campaign promises was he would not put any juvenile in jail "regardless of the crime". He has repeated that several times after getting elected. That's documented & factual.

The guy literally ran, and won, on a platform of not prosecuting people for committing crimes. This is exactly what the people wanted. To be honest, I'd be confused if I was the DA. He's doing nothing more than fulfilling his campaign promises.

The task force of justice and equity of the faith community's elite exploratory committee for fairness, justice, and transparency for undeserved communities of color

And when he got elected he immediately did just that. The far left in Nola hates Jason as much as y’all do.

The people who did vote for him don’t want 50+ carjackings a month man
Hasn’t the guy tried about half of all cases brought to him?
This will be no different.

Essentially he asked people to vote for him promising them that he would not do his job and he has kept up his end of the deal. Sounds about right

I swear y’all are no better than the hard left. Stuck in a bubble unable to see nuance because you’re consumed by your own narrative.
quote:
After examining more than 19,000 case screening decisions and dispositions, the MCC found that Williams’ office was accepting for prosecution just under 50 percent of all felony cases brought to its door by the NOPD and other law enforcement agencies. In the eight-month period of study between Williams’ Jan. 11 inauguration and Sept. 10, Williams’ office refused 918 felony cases and accepted 907.
quote:
That nearly 50-50 split in felony acceptances and refusals marked a drastic departure from the final two years of Cannizzaro’s tenure, when the office moved forward on 71 percent of felony cases in 2019 and 76 percent in 2020.
quote:
The MCC said Williams’ handling of violent felony cases has been alarming. Not only did it find 46 percent of violent felony cases being refused by Williams on the front end (Cannizzaro’s office refused just 33 percent of violent felony cases in 2019 and 25 percent in 2020), but the watchdog agency also saw troubling results on the back end of case dispositions.
quote:LINK
Cannizzaro’s administration achieved felony convictions in a majority of its felony cases closed (64 percent in 2019 and 54 percent in 2020). But under Williams, only 17 percent of felony cases are ending with a felony conviction. Nearly two-thirds (67 percent) are ending in a dismissal without legal consequences for the defendant. And the MCC said almost one in five of the felony cases dismissed have been for crimes of violence (19 percent).
Where is the nuance there?
What are you arguing here?
The guy is getting convictions in 17% of his felony cases. That is similar to the gorilla score on a test.
That takes actual effort as a DA to get that low.
