But New Roads actually wanted the bridge and lobbied for it for decades. So they have one and a bypass while Baton Rouge chokes in traffic.

And officials in the four surrounding parishes were squabbling back then about where another bridge should go. Just like they are now. Another crossing will never happen at this rate.

Reroute to sunshine bridge. Divert back on interstate…all you have to do is 4 lane and reroute in places on Westbank accordingly.
This has been known for 15 years ..I resigned from group when buckwheat (old BR mayor was given veto power of 7 parish region….) he didn’t want to lose sale tax money..
Screw politicians …demand the sensible solution ….use the bridge we (the tax payers) already built and paid for

It’s going to be a toss up. Sit in traffic for 39-40 minutes or go South on Hwy 1 for 15 minutes take new billion bridge then drive 20-30 minutes to get back on I-10 and hope no wrecks . Makes sense to me. But I need to be on I-12.

And in the time between now and when construction starts, Texas will have built 15 similar projects in various places to improve traffic.

I live in West Baton Rouge parish and I have no idea how the new new bridge in the proposed location will help improve traffic. Anyone traveling thru Baton Rouge via I-12 will still use the current bridge. Anyone traveling to New Orleans on I-10 will still use the current bridge.

They will use this as justification for a highway by pass around Plaquemine that connects this bridge to I-10.

And I'm 100% okay with that. Needs to happen.

When there is a wreck on I-10 bridge going west bound, how many people do you think will take the new bridge?

Watch any of the meetings and read any of the reports. The majority of cars on the I-10 bridge are local commuters. If they can provide a alternative for commuters, they’d make a huge dent in traffic.

Negative. Campbell used to run Associated Grocers. The rest are local politicians.

At least 25,000 local drivers would pay a toll to cross the new bridge at any of the 3 locations being considered- almost all of that would be from drivers choosing the new bridge instead of I-10.

I mean of course it would carry a toll for use.
